Luverne United Methodist Church  Director of Childrens Education Job Description   To develop and facilitate the Christian Education program for children preschool through 5th Grade  This includes:  

  • Chair and Lead Family Ministry Team  
  • Build relationships with families and children  
  • Send out correspondence to parents in August regarding the beginning of Fall/Winter Session  
  • Prepare and provide Annual calendar for weekly events for upcoming year Draft Annual Registration Form  
  • Draft Annual Medical Emergency Form  
  • Draft Excel Worksheet and update as needed with student and parental information obtained from Registration Forms  
  • Provide copy of Excel Worksheet to Teachers, Pastor and Church Office/Secretary  
  • Organize Rally Day or Kick-off for upcoming annual session  
  • Organize teachers/leaders and volunteers to help facilitate curriculum 
  • Support and train teachers/leaders and volunteers  
  • Purchase curriculum and supplies  
  • Responsible for Opening Exercises/Assembly Time on Wednesday evenings following supper/dinner  
  • Purchase Bibles for 2nd Graders  
  • Communicate special events and information with families through bulletin, newsletter, postcards, email, text, Face Book page and website  
  • Organize the Wednesday evening meal with volunteer help Prepare sign-up sheet for Fall/Winter Session and Winter/Spring Session  
  • Work with leader of the Hanging of the Greens Service in Advent – children participation during the service  
  • Draft, organize and lead the annual Children’s Ministry and Confirmation Christmas Program  
  • Camp brochures from the MN Annual Conference are received in February – provide students and family with MN Camp information as well as area camps i.e. Okoboji in Iowa, Inspiration Hills in Iowa, Horse Camp in South Dakota, etc.  
  • Organize, promote facilitate and direct the annual Children’s Ministry Support Fund Auction (usually held in April)  
  • Be the bridge/the conduit that provides information about Christian Education to the congregation through bulletin announcements, newsletter, Face Book page and website  
  • Trouble shoot any problems that may occur during Christian Education time such as discipline, long term absence by students or family units
